Mar. 30, 2025, SANDUSKY, OH – The Grand Rapids Community College baseball team put together a dominant performance over the weekend, finishing 4-1 in Sandusky, Ohio, against conference opponents. The strong showing propelled the Raiders to an 11-13 overall record while securing the top spot in the conference with a 6-1 record. With seven wins in their last eight games, the Raiders are gaining momentum at the right time.

- Team batting average of .400 compared to opponents' .238
- Slugging percentage of .600 versus opponents' .333
- 16 stolen bases while allowing just two
- 54 hits compared to opponents' 30
- Team ERA of 3.34 with 44 strikeouts over 32.1 innings
- Collected six triples and hit two home runs
- Opponents hit just .238 against GRCC pitching

Offense:
- Five players batted .500 or better.
- Peter Heintz (Fr., OF): .571 BA, 7 RBI, .714 SLG
- Cannon Paul (Fr., IF): .563 BA, 7 RBI, 9 hits (tied team high), .625 SLG, 3 SB
- Ty Sandwick (So., OF): .529 BA, 4 RBI, 9 hits (tied team high), .706 SLG, 3 SB
- Joey Hysell (So., C): .500 BA, 6 RBI, .857 SLG, 4 extra-base hits (team high)
Pitching:
- Five pitchers posted a 0.00 ERA: Kyler Larson, Case Hennip, Kyle O'Hearn, Ohlen Bond, and Gavin Dunn.
- Case Hennip: Complete game shutout with 9 strikeouts, allowing a .118 opponent batting average.
- Kyle O'Hearn: Nine strikeouts over four innings, earning a win.
- Thano Klett and Larson: Combined for 10 strikeouts to also earn wins.

Game 1 – Friday vs. Mid Michigan College
- Lost 10-9 on a walk-off squeeze bunt in the 7th.
- Raiders led 5-0 before surrendering 8 runs in the 4th.
- GRCC responded with 4 runs to go up 9-8, but Mid Michigan scored in the 6th and walked it off in the 7th.
- Heintz led with a 3-for-4 performance and 2 RBI.
- Aiden Friess hit a 3-run homerun (his first of the season).
Game 2 – Friday vs. Bay College
- Won 11-2.
- 11 hits led by Paul (3-for-4, 2 RBI).
- Jack Lockwood had 2 hits including his first collegiate home run.
- Sandwick and Friess also had 2 hits.
- O'Hearn earned his first win of the season, pitching 4 shutout innings with 9 Ks.
Game 3 – Saturday vs. Alpena Community College
- Won 8-1.
- Tied at 1 before a 5-run 5th inning, highlighted by a 2-run double from Sandwick and a 2-run single by Hysell.
- Hysell led with a 3-for-4 performance and 3 RBI.
- Larson (2-1) went the distance, striking out 4.
Game 4 – Saturday vs. Delta College
- Won 12-3.
- Tied at 2 before a 5-run 5th, highlighted by a 3-run double from Paul.
- Added 5 more runs in the 6th.
- Weekend-high 15 hits, led by Heintz (3-for-3, 3 RBI).
- Thano Klett (4-0) picked up the win, going 5 innings with 6 Ks.
Game 5 – Sunday vs. Muskegon Community College
- Dominant 10-0 run-rule win in 5 innings.
- Raiders opened with 6 runs in the 1st, powered by triples from Sandwick, Hysell, and Xavier Allen.
- Scored 4 more in the 2nd.
- Hennip threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 9.

The Raiders return to action on April 1st at 3 PM for a nine-inning matchup against Aquinas JV at the Meijer Sports Complex in Rockford.
