Nov. 29, 2025, SIDNEY, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College basketball teams wrapped up day one of the Montcalm Shootout on Saturday with the women extending their winning streak while the men battled tough against a nationally ranked opponent.
Women Roll Past Host Montcalm CC, Win Fourth Straight
The GRCC women's basketball team continued its impressive stretch, defeating host Montcalm Community College 75–51 to improve to 6–2 overall and extend their winning streak to four games.
The opening quarter featured five lead changes before a momentum-shifting three-pointer by Sophia Wozniak with 2:32 left in the first gave the Raiders a lead they would not surrender. GRCC steadily built its advantage, leading by as many as 29 points early in the fourth quarter.
Two key factors fueled the victory:
- The Raiders forced 28 turnovers, converting them into 37 points, while allowing just 14 points off their own 16 turnovers.
- GRCC knocked down a season-high 13 three-pointers and shot a season-best 38.2% from behind the arc, compared to Montcalm's six triples.
Standout Performances:
- Tianna Daye: Game-high 17 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, 0 turnovers
- Harmonie Belton: Season-high 15 points (6–11 FG, 2–3 3FG), game-high 6 steals
- Emma Picarazzi: 12 points (4–9 FG, 4–8 3FG), season/game-high 9 rebounds
The Raiders return to action Sunday at 5 p.m., taking on Macomb Community College (4–1), who defeated Cuyahoga CC 68–63 earlier in the day.

Playing without leading scorer Zeek Jackson, the GRCC men's basketball team pushed the 11th-ranked Macomb Monarchs before ultimately falling 90–79, dropping the Raiders to 6–2 on the season.
After trailing by 18 in the first half, GRCC mounted an impressive comeback and trailed just 62–60 with 9:37 remaining. But the Raiders went scoreless for the next 4:46, allowing Macomb to respond with a decisive 15–0 run to stretch the lead to 77–60.
Standout Performances:
- EJ Bowman: Career-high 27 points (9–17 FG, 4–9 3FG)
- Nate Keil: 21 points
