Nov. 12, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – Grand Rapids Community College basketball fans had plenty to cheer about on Wednesday night as both the men's and women's teams cruised to commanding victories over Alpena Community College in their home openers at the Ford Fieldhouse.
Women's Basketball: Raiders Hit the Century Mark in 100-51 Rout
The GRCC women's team put together a complete performance on both ends of the court, rolling to a 100-51 victory — marking the first time the Raiders have scored 100 points in a game in exactly 10 years.
The Raiders (3-2) came out firing, leading 27-10 after the first quarter and 58-26 at halftime. They would extend their lead to as many as 51 points in the fourth quarter thanks to relentless defensive pressure and balanced scoring.
GRCC forced 34 Alpena turnovers — including 25 steals — and turned those mistakes into 41 points. Meanwhile, the Raiders limited their own miscues to a season-low 13 turnovers, with Alpena managing just six points off them.
All 13 Raiders got on the scoreboard, led by sophomore Sophia Wozniak, who tallied a game-high 21 points (7-of-15 FG, 3-of-5 3PT, 4-of-5 FT) and dished out five assists. Sophomore Averi Peot posted the game's only double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Tianna Daye added 18 points (7-of-13 FG), four assists, and a team-high five steals.
Avery DePagter chipped in 11 points (5-of-11 FG) as the Raiders shot efficiently and shared the ball throughout the lineup.
GRCC returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 19, when they travel to Mott Community College for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
Men's Basketball: Hot Shooting Fuels Comeback Win
The men's team completed the sweep with a hard-fought 103-81 win over Alpena, using a huge first-half run and hot shooting from beyond the arc to seize control.
Alpena jumped out to an early 13-point lead (29-16) nine minutes into the game before the Raiders stormed back with a 15-0 run, capped by a Nate Keil layup to take a 31-29 lead. GRCC never trailed again, holding off the Lumberjacks' attempts to rally in the second half — the closest Alpena came was 60-56 with 14 minutes to play.
The Raiders caught fire from three-point range, knocking down a season-best 15-of-32 (46.9%) from deep, with eight different players hitting at least one triple. All 15 players saw action, and 13 made it into the scoring column.
Sophomore EJ Bowman led the way with 17 points (6-of-12 FG, 3-of-7 3PT, 2-of-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists, and a team-high four steals. Zeek Jackson added 16 points (6-of-10 FG, 2-of-4 3PT), seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and three steals, while Nate Keil scored 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting and grabbed seven boards.

Lucas Pitsch filled the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, and a team-high five assists, and Jared Demoff added nine points, seven rebounds, three steals, and a team-best three blocks.
