Women's Game: Raiders Rally Falls Short in OT
The GRCC women's team (3-8, 1-2 conference) showcased resilience but fell short in overtime against the Roadrunners (13-5, 2-1). Trailing by as many as 13 points during the game and down nine in the fourth quarter, the Raiders mounted an impressive comeback. Redshirt Freshman Tianna Daye scored the team's final seven points in regulation to force overtime, but SWMC held firm to secure the victory.
Sophomore Ava Schultz delivered a career performance with 25 points (10-18 FG) and 15 rebounds in 42 minutes of action. Daye added 15 points, nine rebounds, and a team-high four steals, while Tia Richard contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Despite out-shooting SWMC overall and from three-point range, the Raiders struggled at the free-throw line, converting just eight attempts compared to 25 for the Roadrunners. Turnovers also plagued GRCC, with 21 giveaways to SWMC's 12.
Men's Game: Shorthanded Raiders Extend Win Streak
The GRCC men's team (16-2, 3-0 conference) continued their winning ways, defeating SWMC 74-62 despite missing two starters. The Raiders built a 14-point lead but saw it shrink to one (40-39) early in the second half. However, they held firm, never allowing the Roadrunners to take the lead.
Marshaun Flakes, fresh off a school-record 53-point game, once again led the Raiders with 19 points, six steals, and two blocks. Bashir Neely added 16 points and a team-high five assists, while Tyran Thomas and Zeekeal Jackson chipped in 11 points each. Javon Golson dominated the boards, leading GRCC with 10 rebounds.
