March 16, 2024, TEXAS TWP, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Community College baseball team reached the .500 mark for the first time this season after winning its four game series against Kalmazoo Valley Community College three games to one.
After sweeping KVCC 13-0 and then 4-1 on Saturday, GRCC has now won eight of its last nine games and is now 9-9 on the season.
In game one, the Raiders pounded out 15 hits, including three home runs to shutout the Cougars.
Chad Fisher led the visitors with three hits and also scored two runs. Trevin Laming, Dylan Nguyen and Jacob Pitt all had two hits including home runs. Ty Sandwick also had two hits and added a couple of RBI's.
Cam Seth picked up his second win, pitching six strong innings while only allowing three hits. He also struck out seven batters.
In the nightcap, the Raiders had nine hits and nearly had another shutout, before the Cougars finally got on board in the sixth after a wild pitch.
Seth had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense.
Canyen Veldhouse (3-1) picked up the win allowing just three hits while striking out seven. Ohlen Bond picked up the save after striking out six of the seven batters he faced.
GRCC will be back on the field on Tuesday, March 19 at the Meijer Sports Complex in Rockford taking on Aquinas JV.
