Oct. 17, 2024, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The No. 14 ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team extended its win streak to 14 matches after sweeping North Central Michigan College, 25-15, 25-18, 25-10 on Thursday night.
With the victory, the Raiders magic number on winning the conference title is down to one, with three matches remaining before post season.
GRCC (16-2, 9-0) will take on Muskegon Community College on Oct. 22 with the conference crown on the line. The Raiders have won 13 titles, and seven of the past eight.
Outside's Taylor Kik and Meredith Simmons both hit milestones in the win for the Raiders. Kik, who recently was named the conference's offensive player of the week for the third time, led the team with 14 kills to surpass 200 career kills. She also hit a team high .455 and had a team high 12 digs. Simmons had four kills and seven digs, to give her over 100 career digs.
Pin hitters Lizzie MacIntosh and Ava Schultz also had a great nights, combining for 13 kills and hitting over .350.
As a team, the Raiders hit an impressive .311, which was the second highest of the season.
