VOLLEYBALL CONFERENCE STANDINGS
Oct. 22, 2024, MUSKEGON, Mich. -- The No. 12 ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team clinched its 14th conference championship after defeating Muskegon Community College 25-22, 25-18, 25-12 on Tuesday night. Meanwhile back in Grand Rapids, the men's soccer team also shutout its opponent in a non-conference match up against Kuyper College.
The Raiders volleyball team (17-2, 10-0) have now won 15 matches in a row dating back to Aug. 24. Of its 17 wins, 14 have been sweeps.
Sophomore Lilly Peterson sparked the Raiders with nine kills and five blocks, and hit a team-high .500.
Freshman Taylor Kik, who was just named the conference's offensive player of the week for the fourth time, led the team with 13 kills and added 10 digs, two blocks and an ace.
Sophomore Lizzie MacIntosh had eight kills and freshman Allie McGlothlen added four kills.
Sophomore setter Carle Bruggema led the team with 14 assists and five aces.
Sophomore outside Meredith Simmons led the team with 11 digs and freshman libero Cece Huizingh added 10 digs.
GRCC has just two matches remaining in the regular season, this Friday and Saturday at home against Alpena and Bay College.
The men's soccer team defeated Kuyper College 2-0 with goals coming from Brandon Gomez, his first of the year, and Rodrigo

Perez, his second of the year. Fabian Rodriguez picked up the win playing all 90 minutes as goalkeeper for the Raiders.
GRCC will play one more game before it prepares for regionals. They will take on 13th ranked Mineral Area College Wednesday at 1 pm at Midwest United.
