Jan. 17, 2024, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College's basketball teams lost both games to Mid Michigan College in its conference opener on Wednesday night at Hunsberger Arena.
In the first game of the night, the 13th ranked Lakers stay perfect on the season after doubling up the Raiders 97-47.
Ava Schultz tallied her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophia Modderman grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds and Tia Richard recorded a team and season-high 19 points on 7-of-14 from the field.
In the men's game, it was a tale of two halves. GRCC outscored the Lakers by 11 in the second half, but Mid Michigan's 57-31 lead at the half was too much to come back from.
Darrell Belcher led the team with 16 points and added eight rebounds and a team-high three blocks. Tristan McRoberts had 14 points and two blocks, and his brother Dominic had a career-high eight points and eight rebounds.
GRCC travels north this weekend to take on Alpena Community College on Saturday and then Bay College on Monday.
