Box Score Sept. 13, 2023, PETOSKEY, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College's volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play after a tough victory over North Central Michigan College on Wednesday.
The No. 11 ranked Raiders were down by as many as seven in the first set but came out victorious 25-20.
It was more of the same in set two as the Raiders trailed by eight, 14-6, but rallied back to close the set on a 19-5 run and win 25-19.
North Central proved no match in set three as the Raiders hit .455 and cruised to a 25-8 win.
After the win, GRCC improved to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Timberwolves dropped to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Lilly Peterson led the team with 18 points on 13 kills, four blocks and an a service ace.
Sophomore Braelyn Berry didn't have an error until the final set and finished with a team-high .474 hitting percentage on 10 kills. She also led the team with 17 digs, including 12 in the first set.
Carle Bruggema led the team with 31 assists, two blocks and five service aces, including three in a row in the final set that gave the team a 21-4 lead. Vienna Koenigsknecht had 14 digs and three service aces.
GRCC returns to action Sept. 19 at Delta College.
