GRCC's Four Game Win Streak Snapped After Loss to Mid-Michigan

Grand Rapids, Mich. -- The Raiders four game win streak came to end with a 52-28 loss to the 19th ranked Lakers on Monday night.  The Raiders are now 16-9 overall and 7-7 in the conference.  Mid-Michigan College stays in contention for a conference title as they improve to 20-3 overall and 11-3 in the conference.

Mid-Michigan got off to an early 9-0 lead after back to back buckets by Breyton Meeks (7 points-7 rebounds). The Raiders cut the deficit down to just four (13-9) including 8 points from Hallee Breimayer (Belding, MI).  At the end of the first quarter the Lakers were up five. The visitors extended their lead to nine as both teams went into the break, 27-18. 

The Laker defense held the Raiders to 2 of 30 from the field in the second half, outscoring the home team 25-10.  For the game the Raiders ended up shooting a season low 14.5% from the field while the Lakers shot 35.1%.  Each team totaled 27 turnovers.  The Lakers won the rebound battle 53-39 while the Raiders had more blocked shots, 10 to 1.

Breimayer finished the game with a team high 13 points.  Teammates Kendall Griffioen (Hudsonville, MI) and Emily Pendred (East Lansing, MI) each had 10 rebounds.  Griffioen added a season best 8 blocks.  Amelia McNutt led Mid-Michigan with 15 points and 5 assists.

The Raiders will hit the road Wednesday for a 5:30 match up with Lake Michigan College.  The first place Redhawks had the night off and will come into the game with a 20-5 (12-2) record.  In their first meeting the Redhawks beat the Raiders 62-39.
