David Hearns (Hazel Park, MI) had a career day for the Raiders as they improved to 2-0 in the conference with a 93-82 win at Jackson College. The freshman point guard finished with 22 points (his second highest of season) and a season best 11 assists, 8 rebounds and just 1 turnover in 35 minutes of action. As a team, the Raiders (winners of 8 of their last 9) had a season best 7 turnovers overall, four better than they previous season best.

Sammie Ryans (Kentwood, MI) had a career day of himself. Ryans, the team's leading scorer (16.9/game), scored 31 points including 23 in the first half. He also connecting on 6 of 12 from behind the arc making it the eighth time this season he has hit at least 3 three pointers.
The Jets got off to a good start, leading 15-8 early on, before the Raiders went on a 12-0 run capped off by a Ryan's bucket to lead 20-15. The visitors didn't give up the lead despite many runs by Jackson throughout the game. At one point in the first half, the Raiders led by 12, but the Jets trailed by just 4 at the break, 45-41.
After the Jets climbed back to tie the game at 54 with 13:26 remaining in the game, the momentum shifted back to the Raiders side after the Jet's head coach was called for a technical foul. Just four minutes later, it was a double digit lead for Bronkema's Raiders. Jackson only could only manage to come within single digits a few times the rest of the game, in the end, the visitors walked away with the victory.
As a team, the Raiders went 11 for 32 from behind the three point line, while Jackson went 11 of 30. It marked the 8th time in 13 games that the Raiders made 10 or more three pointers in a game. For the season they are shooting a solid 34% as a team from long distance with 96 of the three's coming from Ryans, Hearns and
William Otole (Grand Rapids, MI).
Diego Robinson (Lansing, MI) finished the game with 11 points and a team high 12 rebounds. It was the sophomore's third double-double so far this season. Otole contributed with 15 pts and 5 rebounds for GRCC.
Up next for the Raiders will be the Jayhawks of Muskegon Community College on Wednesday, January 9th. The Jayhawks have a 6-5 overall record and 1-1 in the conference. They lost to Jackson in their first conference matchup, but on Saturday got a huge win at the defending conference champion Chargers of Ancilla.
