Donaldson, IN – GRCC's baseball team improved to 11-15 overall and 6-2 in league play after beating Ancilla College's Chargers 9-2 and 9-2 this past Sunday. Jacob Wosinski (2-2) picked up the win in the first game for the Raiders pitching 7 innings while giving up just 5 hits and 1 earned run with 11 strikeouts. Ancilla's Brandon Dagley took the loss pitching 5.1 innings allowing 4 hits, three earned runs and 8 walks.
Calvin Syrjala and Isaac Raab led the Raiders in RBI with two each as both recorded a double and a home run with Raab going 1-for-2 with two walks and Syrjala 2-for-4.
Dylan Limbacher recorded six steals for the Raiders. As a team, GRCC recorded 9 steals in the first game.
In game two GRCC led after two and didn't look back winning 9-2. Syrjala recorded his second homer of the day batting 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and two walks. Alec Overbeek and Isaac Raab each finished with 2 RBI. Raab hit 2-of-4 with a walk. Overbeek went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and one run scored.
Michael Casterline (2-1) earned the win for the Raiders pitching 6 innings striking out 6 while allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run. Logan Fleming entered in relief and allowed no hits or runs while striking out 1 and walking 1.
Ancilla's Jacob Hardy earned the loss for the Chargers. Hardy pitched 4.1 innings allowing 7 hits and 8 earned runs with 6 walks and three strikeouts. Josef Richardson pitched 2.2 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run and two strikeouts.
GRCC visits Calvin College on Tuesday the 10
th of April for a 2PM matchup with the JV Knights.
