Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 Grand Rapids, MI – The GRCC men's basketball team has ran their winning streak to 3, by defeating Mid-Michigan Community College 84 - 73 (Nov. 24), a team that beat the Raiders on their home court earlier this season, Davenport University JV 96 - 79 (Nov. 23) and Oakland Community College 97 - 92 (Nov. 19).

Like many Community College programs, GRCC has had to work hard at building cohesion as a unit. It has been evident the team is bonding and each player is learning what role they need to fill to have a successful season. In many cases, GRCC has leaned on different players each night to secure W's. Through five contests, the Raiders have five players averaging in double figures. Point guard, Myles Ervin leads the team in scoring at 15.8 ppg. Michael Spicer (12.8), Claude Finley (12), Abdul McGraw (11) and Jamier Mix (10) round out those averaging double figures.

It is a testament to the coaching staff that so many players can be called upon to step up in a multitude of ways. For instance, Ike Kanu brings an infectious energy each time he steps on the court. Kanu, who stands at 6'5" is by no means the tallest player on the court, leads the Raiders in rebounding at 7.6 rpg, 3.4 of which come on the offensive end. This, among other stats, has helped GRCC increase their average total points per game from 68.5, in the two losses, to 92.3 in their three game winning steak. 

During GRCC's three game winning streak the Raiders are averaging 23 assists per game, a stark contrast to their two losses, where they averaged only 11 apg. The increase is evidence of the team building chemistry together and understanding their roles on each given night. Going forward, it will be imperative the Raiders continue to share the ball and not revert back to their individualistic ways.

The Raiders will play next on Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Ford Fieldhouse @ 7:30 PM vs. Macomb Community College who is 6-2 this year.
