Grand Rapids, Mich. – The GRCC volleyball team hosts bitter rival Muskegon Community College tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Gordon Hunsberger Arena. The Raiders enter tonight's contest on a 13 match winning streak, one that began on September 24th against Jackson College. Tonight marks the second time these two teams have faced one another this season. In the first match, GRCC defeated Muskegon on their home court, besting the Jayhawks 3-1 (22-25, 27-25, 25-20, 29-27). In the first contest, the Raiders
Lauren Wieber (20 kills) and
Selena Golnick(16 kills) helped lead GRCC to victory. On Muskegon's side,
Hannah Deblois (18 kills) and
Rachel Brown (15 kills) led the team. GRCC has already qualified for districts, however, a win tonight will give them either the 1 or 2 seed (Lansing Community College must lose tonight @ Ancilla for the Raiders to secure the 1 seed) in this weekends (Nov. 6-8) MCCAA East vs. West District tournament. The winner of the district will be invited to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sophomore NightTonight marks the final home game for the sophomore class. GRCC will honor Selena Golnick,
Amanda Metz,
Alexandra Polakovich and
Dacey Cook.
