Box Score 2 Toledo, OH – GRCC's volleyball team is heading to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament after winning their fifth straight NJCAA District F Tournament with a 3-0 win over Muskegon Community College, 25-22, 25-14, and 25-17.
The Raiders blazed their way to the finals knocking down the fourth seeded Vincennes University 3-0 to advance to the semi-finals against second seeded Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. After winning the first set in the semi's, GRCC gave up the second before taking the third and fourth winning 3-1—25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-17.
The Raiders faced their conference foe in the second seeded Jayhawks of Muskegon Community College in the finals and handled them swiftly in straight sets 25-22, 25-14, 25-17 to remain undefeated against MCC in 2014.
Shelby Ruffner (Chesterton, IN) led the Raiders in kills and blocks against the Jayhawks with 9 kills and 7 blocks.
Micaela Deshetsky (North Branch, MI)'s had 8 kills with a .533 hitting percentage while adding 4 aces.
Abbie Gortsema (East Grand Rapids, MI) finished with 4 kills and five blocks.
Four Raiders—
Katlyn Agren (Cadillac, MI),
Amanda Glaza (Rockford, MI),
Michelle Holland (Otsego, MI) and
Audrey Wyse (Greenville, MI)—recorded double digit digs with Glaza leading the pack with 14. Holland led her team in assists with 21.
With the District F Title the Raiders will travel to Phoenix College in Phoenix, AZ where the
2014 National Tournament play will kick off on November 20
th against the top 16 team from around the US.

This season marks the fifth straight trip to the NJCAA DII National Tournament for GRCC in as many years. Under head coach Chip Will GRCC earned berths to the NJCAA National Tournament in 6-of-7 years having lost just one District Championship since taking the helm.
