Former Raider Therriault joins Atlanta Falcons

Grand Rapids, MI—Former standout Raider athlete Casey Therriault is continuing to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL after announcing that he has signed a professional contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Therriault went undrafted during the 2012 NFL draft.

After being passed on by numerous schools due to a troubled past, Therriault joined Grand Rapids Community College and led the Raiders to a 9-2 season in 2009. During his time at GRCC, the team led the NJCAA in total offense and placed 6th in the nation.

Casey showed tremendous offensive potential while at GRCC; a 63% completion rate, 20 TD’s thrown, and an average of over 180 passing yards per game. Following his stellar season at GRCC, Therriault announced plans to attend Jackson State University. A historically black college, Therriault earned the nickname “the White Tiger” during his time down south.

Therriault delivered 2 monumental seasons while playing with the Tigers, which included passing for a whopping 58 touchdowns. Casey averaged 312 passing yards in 2010 and over 370 for the 2011 season, with a combined completion average of roughly 60%.

Despite the record setting numbers, Casey was passed on in the draft. After being signed by the Atlanta Falcons, his agent noted that it is likely that he’ll end up on the practice squad, and will have the chance to “work his way up.”
