5 Raiders named to NJCAA All-American Team

Grand Rapids, MI—The Raiders finished the season undefeated, but were snubbed when it came to an invite to a major bowl game. Although the team didn’t get the chance to compete in one of the bowl games, numerous individual awards continue to pour in. On Monday afternoon five members of the 2011 GRCC Raiders were named to the NJCAA All-American Teams.

Carlin Landingham and Keyon Cole were named to the first and second offense teams respectively, Lineman Marcus Cribbs was named to the First Defense Team, and Linebacker Terrell Porter and Defensive Back Evan Ray were named to the Second Defense Team.

Landingham and Cole were both members of the Raiders offensive line that posted some extremely impressive numbers. With their help the team posted an average of over 500 offensive yards per game and over 50 total points per game.

Cribbs, Porter and Ray were vital to the Raiders success on defense. During the 2011 season the team allowed an average of only 17.4 points per game. GRCC allowed only 7 rushing touchdowns all season, an average of 1.8 rushing yards per play, and an average of less than 200 yards of total offense per game this season. Cribbs made 21 total tackles, including 9 for losses, Porter posted 43 total tackles and teammate Evan Ray made 32 tackles and had 3 picks.

The team finished the season ranked #4 in the NJCAA and a perfect 11-0 record. Sophomores Landingham and Cribbs will continue their collegiate careers elsewhere during the 2012 season. Ray, Porter, and Cole have the option to return to GRCC.
