Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – GRCC’s #3 ranked volleyball team, in their last regular season home contest of the year, won their third straight MCCAA West Conference Championship following a 3-0 win over Jackson Community College 25-5. 25-10, 28-26. GRCC is 13-1 against Jackson under Head Coach Chip Will.
To make the moment even sweeter for the Raiders, who extended their win streak to 19, was the fact that Tuesday night was also Sophomore Night. Players and their parents were honored for the collective contributions to their outstanding volleyball program.

Nicole Czehowski Molly Maynard Hannah Geelhoed Kourtney Wolters Kaitlyn Wolters Kendall Wolffis Karleigh Strazisar and
Amy Vander Wal have posted incredible figures in 2012 combining for 982 kills—85% of the total kills of 2012. GRCC’s sophomores also responsible for 1,050 digs, 194 blocks and 1,031 assists—80% of those belonging to
Kaitlyn Wolters.
Individually, these sophomore’s stats are simply ridiculous.
With last night’s win, GRCC earns a first round bye in the MCCAA State Tournament while also securing a #1 seed in theRegion XII District F Tournament during the first weekend in November.
A quick look at this season shows an unbelievable trend of excellence and distinction from GRCC’s Volleyball team.
GRCC’s returning sophomores have a career record of 61-8 overall and 25-1 in MCCAA West play. GRCC’s squad has not lost a conference match since September 22, 2011. They a perfect 21-0 set record at home as they defeated 7 opponents in three sets this year. They are 7-1 in 2012 against ranked opponents and in 29 matches this season only seven went more than 3 sets.

GRCC volleyball in the last 6 years has an overall record of 134-33 while going 61-6 in MCCAA West play. GRCC has now won four Conference Championships—with this being the third straight—under Chip Will.
With the NJCAA Division II Volleyball poll coming out later today, the Raiders expect to remain in third for the sixth consecutive week of 2012 if they don’t climb higher.
GRCC faces two more MCCAA West opponents in the next week. Tomorrow the Raiders will travel to Kalamazoo to face KVCC’s Cougars at 6:30 PM. On Tuesday the 23
rd of October, GRCC travels to Ancilla College to wrap up the regular season.
