Raiders begin conference play with long road trip

The Raiders hit the road for the first time this season, and start out with a huge road trip to Wahpeton, North Dakota. The team packs up Thursday evening, and hopes to continue their success. Both teams are currently undefeated for the 2011 season.

GRCC has walked away with a win each of the last 6 times that the 2 schools have met. Last season the Raiders massacred the NDSCS Wildcats by a score of 55-7. “We have the talent to win again, but the trip is very grinding. You can almost give the home team a 10 point lead before the game even starts” says Coach Tim Johnson.

Led by a very dynamic offense, the Raiders are ranked #17 in the JCGridiron.com Dirty 30. Quarterback Cody Kater has proved that he is the real deal through the season’s first two contests, and has completed 22 passes for 318 yards and 6 touchdowns. Sophomore standout Korey Ringer has rushed for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Saturday’s game marks the start of conference play for GRCC, and the team expects to have another very successful season.  The team returns to Michigan to take on rival Ellsworth CC on September 17th.
