Toledo, OH--GRCC's Raiders defeat the Oakland Community College Raiders in five--27-25-23-25, 20-25, 27-25, 15-12 to cap an outstanding showing in the 2011 Owens Invitational. To their credit, the OCC Raiders had quite a tournament as well defeating #8 Kishwaukee, # 6 Illinois Central, John A. Logan College, and Genessee County, but the Oakland Raiders couldn't match up against GRCC, who ended their undefeated streak in the tournament.
GRCC's Raiders leave the Owens Invitational 7-1 knowing they have the capacity to battle with the best teams in the nation and the composure to take their upcoming matches one point at a time. Next up for GRCC are the Indians of Lake Michigan Community College. The two teams face off in the Hunsburger Arena in GRCC's Ford Fieldhouse at 6:30PM.
