Grand Rapids, MI—After Gattaca cancelled, the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders finally got a chance to take the field on Sunday. GRCC proved to be too much for the Grand Rapids Thunder, and won by a rather lopsided score of 52-0. The Raiders looked extremely dominant in all aspects of the game.
It seemed as though nearly everyone on the roster made a significant contribution in the victory. The defensive line proved to be impenetrable, allowing the Thunder only 57 total yards on 54 total plays. On the offense the Raiders rushed for 185 yards and passed for 168. Highly touted recruits Demar Dorsey, Ben Hayes, and Cody Kater all looked exceptional. Hayes had 2 sacks, Kater threw for 3 TD’s and 126 yards, and the explosive Dorsey was clearly dominant throughout the game.
Defensive backs Myrick Gwynn and Christopher Edwards both had stellar performances, and made 2 interceptions each. After rushing for 1 touchdown and 65 yards, Brandon Paschall was named GRCC’s male athlete of the week.
The Raiders suit up next when they travel to Wahpeton, North Dakota to play the North Dakota State College of Science. The last time the two met the Raiders walked away with a 55-7 victory.
