Grand Rapids, MI—Severe weather in New Jersey will delay the start of the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders football season. Hurricane Irene has forced airports to shut down along the east coast, and Gattaca finds themselves in a situation similar to pro teams such as the Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, and Boston Red Sox; all of whom will be unable to travel under current weather conditions. Other major tournaments in the area have been cancelled as well. Professional tennis matches and PGA tour dates have also been postponed.
The Raiders however will play against the Grand Rapids Thunder. The game is scheduled to take place this Sunday at Houseman Field at 5pm. The Thunder are a member of the Great Midwest Football League. Admission to the game will be free.
