The14th ranked Raiders entered the 2011 Raider Challenge 15-4 after winning three home matches earlier in the week against Kellogg, Ancilla and Jackson Community Colleges.
In their first match on Saturday, the Raiders defeated McHenry County College (IL) 3-0; 25-13, 25-17, 25-9. Leading the Raiders against McHenry was
Kelsey Darling with 7 kills, and
Karleigh Strazesar who had 9 digs and 2 aces.
Next the Raiders faced the ominous 5
th ranked Owens Community College Express who entered this weekend’s challenge 24-2, coming off a loss to 4
th ranked Parkland College—the same Parkland College that dealt the Raiders their first loss of the season at the Owen’s Invitational in early September. After a 5 set battle where the Raiders won the first two sets, the Express edged the Raiders winning three straight; 25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 27-29, 17-19.

Nicole Czehowski led the Raiders in kills combining for 37.
Day two of the Challenge the Raiders defeated St. Clair County CC 3-0 , 25-16, 29-27, 25-22,with major contributions from
Kaitlyn Wolters who set the ball for 9 Raiders who combined for 39 kills and
Amanda Fleener who had 4 aces and 6 digs.
In today’s last match the Raiders faced Schoolcraft and the Raiders walked off the court with a 3-1 win led by
Nicole Czehowski and
Darling who combined for 23 kills.
Next Tuesday the Raiders face Lake Michigan College (10-13) on the road and then conference rival Kalamazoo Valley CC (10-14) at home Thursday October 6
th at 6:30 PM.
