Volleyball tops Lansing Community College in three sets

Grand Rapids, MI—GRCC’s Raider Volleyball team is now 10-1 in the MCCAA West and 22-5 overall after a 3-0 win over the Lansing Community College Stars in front of an excited home crowd.

The Raiders made quick work of the Stars in the first set 25-9, but the Stars battled back and nearly took the second set. Despite the Star's effort, the Raider’s late surge in the second led to a 25-22 win.  The third set belonged to the Raiders as they took it 25-14.

GRCC’s win was a complete team effort.  The Raiders were led in kills by Kelsey Darling, Nicole Czehowski and Molly Maynard with 5 each.

Defensively the Raiders collectively dug up 35 balls to keep their offense going.  Czehowski, Strazesar and Rutter had five each while Maynard led the Raiders with 10.

The Raiders hope to keep this momentum and finish with a win next week over #10 Muskegon Community College.  The Jayhawks defeated the Raiders 2-3 on September 22nd.

Next week's match against the Muskegon CC will take place in the Hunsburger Arena at GRCC’s Ford Fieldhouse Tuesday October 18th at 6:30PM.
