Damiekco Smith has over 25 years of soccer coaching experience before becoming GRCC's first men's soccer coach in the fall of 2022.
Before GRCC, he was the head women’s soccer coach for The University of Michigan-Flint and the assistant for the University of Michigan-Flint men’s soccer program.
Smith has led several successful soccer programs, including winning three indoor National Championships with his 2 Designs All-Star team. His 2 Design All-Stars team went on to have a 30-0 record.
He has also coached his high school team to a Conference Championship leading his team to a 20-0 regular season record. Because of his success, he was awarded the High School Boys and Girls Conference Coach of the Year award and the High School Boys and Girls District Coach of the Year award.
He is currently the Head Coach for the Wellspring Prep High School girls’ soccer team during his offseason.
Smith earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan-Flint in Public Administration and earned a Master’s Degree from Bowling Green in Criminal Justice. He earned his undergrad degrees from Central Michigan, a Bachelor’s in Science, and from Ferris State University, an Associate in Arts and Science.
When he is not coaching, Smith works for the Department of Health and Human Services as a Section Manager in Kent County.
