Johnson joined the Raiders in 2012 from Pasco-Hernando Community College in New Port Richey, Florida. Johnson led PHCC in the 2011 season as Interim Head Coach, while the head coach was on maternity leave, with a 19-6 record in regular season. As the assistant in post-season play, Johnson assisted in the Quistas Regional Championship and return to Nationals, finishing the season 16th in the nation with a record of 31-11.

Johnson opened Steinbrenner High School located in the Tampa Bay Area in 2009, where she led the Warriors to a 41-15 record with 2009 and 2010 District Titles and a 2010 Sweet Sixteen appearance.  She was the 2010 Western Conference American Division Coach of the Year.

Johnson has also coached at other Tampa Bay Area high schools including Wharton High School (1999-2001) with a 1999 District Title and Land O' Lakes High School (2004-2005). While in Morgantown, WV (2001-2003), Johnson coached at Morgantown High leading them to their first conference title in school history and directed the Monogahela Juniors volleyball club. She returned to her home state of Kansas for one year (2008-2009), where she was the head coach at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas and directed the Cloud Juniors volleyball club. Her passion is developing young athletes and watching them grow into responsible adults in both volleyball and their personal lives.

Staci Johnson is originally from Goodland, Kansas graduating from Wichita State University in 1994 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and West Virginia University in 2003 with a Master's in Counseling. She has worked at the high school and the college level for the last 17 years as a teacher, counselor and coach, as well as director and coach at the club level. She is married to Kevin Johnson and they have five children.
