Coach Fred Julian graduated from the University of Michigan in 1959. His post-college football career began with two years as a player with the New York Titans in the American Footbll League. In 1961, Fred came to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he spent two seasons as a player/coach with the Grand Rapids Blzers, a West Michigan based, semi-professional football team.

In 1969, Fred assumed the duties of head coach at West Catholic High School in Grand Rapids. he remained at the head of the Falcon Football program for the next sixteen years, through the 1984 season. during this time, Coach julian accumulated a record of 106 wins, 40 losses and 3 ties. Fred's teams took eight city league championships, one Michigan state championship title in 1977, one runner-up finish in the state championships in 1980, and one third place state finish in 1975.

In addition to his coaching at the high school level, Coach Julian also spent five years during the late seventies and early eighties coaching in the Michigan Charity Football League and the North States Football Leagues, which were both summertime semi-professional organizations. During this five year period, Coach Julian complied a record of 50 wins and 3 losses.

Fred assumed the head coaching responsiblities at Grand Rapid Community College in the fall of 1985. he is currently in his seventh season with the Raiders. During this time, Raider teams have accumulated a record of 52 wins, 12 losses and 1 tie. Grand Rapids Community College has also taken part in post-season bowl competition for four of the seven years that Coach Julian has been at the head of the program.
