The Raiders have been a part of the MCCAA Conference since 1926. The MCCAA used to be the MJCAA until the 1960's. Up until 1986, everyone in the conference was classified as NJCAA Division I. Since then the Raiders have been participated at the NJCAA Division II level. In 2003, the Region broke up into districts and sent multiple championship teams to Nationals. The Raiders were in District 8 from 2003 to 2012 and District 9 from 2013 until present.
Since 1961 the Raiders have won 12 Conference Titles, one MCCAA Championship, six Regional/District Championships and have participated in six National Championships, including a National Runner-Up finish by David Selmon's 1994-95 team. The have also had six NJCAA Athletic All-Americans (with the latest in 2019 - Sammie Ryans) which you can view if you click here.
Early history dates GRCC's (then GRJC) basketball team playing back to 1920-21 when they played 15 games vs. various teams across the state of Michigan, finishing with a 6-9 record. Floyd Barber coached the Varsity team that consisted of 11 players. From 1923-24 to 1930-31 they won eight straight MJCAA Conference titles. There is a gap from 1931 to 1958 where it is unknown who won the conference titles.
