SEPT. 24, 2026, LANSING, Mich. – The No. 17-ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team continued its dominant start to conference play Thursday night, sweeping Lansing Community College 25-17, 25-10, 25-16 to remain unbeaten in the Western Conference.
The victory improves the Raiders to 11-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play, while Lansing falls to 4-13 overall and 0-5 in conference competition.
GRCC has now won 15 consecutive sets and nine straight matches against Lansing Community College.
The Raiders were particularly efficient offensively, hitting .398 for the match on 46 kills, 11 errors and 88 attacks. The performance ranks as GRCC's second-best hitting percentage of the season.
Sophomore outside hitters Kirstyn Lothschultz and Kaylee Kranz led the Raiders with 13 kills apiece. Lothschultz was especially dominant in the final set, going a perfect 7-for-7 on attacks as GRCC closed out the sweep.
The Raiders also received a strong all-around performance from Vanessa Walker, who added seven kills while hitting an impressive .500. Walker and Payton Taylor combined for 33 assists in the three-set victory.
GRCC's serving and serve-receive play were also key factors in the sweep. The Raiders recorded 10 service aces while committing just two reception errors.
Defensively, libero Olivia Inthout led all players with 12 digs while handling 14 receptions.
After taking the opening set 25-17, the Raiders turned up the pressure in the second, limiting Lansing to just 10 points. GRCC then completed the sweep with a 25-16 victory in the third set, finishing the night with its 15th consecutive set win.
The Raiders will have a week off from competition before returning home Wednesday, Oct. 1, to host Kellogg Community College at 6:30 p.m.
