Raiders Roll to 9-0 Shutout; Terry Fans Career-High 10 in Eighth Straight Win

Apr. 7, 2026, GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Behind a dominant outing on the mound from sophomore Landon Terry and a balanced offensive attack, the GRCC baseball team cruised to a 9-0 shutout victory over Lake Michigan College in a nine-inning, non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 11-10 overall and extend their winning streak to eight games.

Terry continued his strong season, earning his team-leading fourth win after throwing seven shutout innings. The right-hander was in complete control, striking out a career-high 10 batters while allowing just four hits and one walk. He set the tone early, retiring the first 10 batters he faced.

GRCC wasted no time providing run support. In the bottom of the first inning, Michael Hurlbutt delivered a two-out, two-run double to give the Raiders an early 2-0 advantage. The lead grew to 3-0 in the third inning after a double from Peter Heintz brought home another run.

The Raiders broke things open in the fourth inning when Owen Hendrix launched his second home run of the season—a two-run shot to left field—to extend the lead to 6-0.

GRCC added three more runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run single to right field from Noah Ritsema, pushing the margin to 9-0.

Offensively, the Raiders tallied 10 hits on the day. Jack Lockwood drove in two runs with a pair of singles, while Heintz added a two-hit performance. In total, 21 Raiders saw action in the victory, showcasing the team's depth.

The bullpen finished off the shutout in impressive fashion. Sam Vanneste tossed a scoreless eighth inning, allowing just one hit, before Jansen Douma closed the game by striking out the side in the ninth.

GRCC will return to conference play this weekend in a home-and-home series against Muskegon Community College. The Raiders will host MCC on Friday for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., before traveling to Muskegon on Saturday.
