Raiders Open 2026 Season with Dominant Sweep at The Spring Games

FLORIDA SPRING GAMES LIVESTREAM
FULL SCHEDULE

Feb. 27, 2026, WINTER HAVEN, FL. –
The Raiders softball team opened its 2026 campaign in impressive fashion Friday, sweeping a pair of run-rule victories at The Spring Games in Winter Haven, Florida. Grand Rapids Community College defeated Oakland Community College 11-0 in five innings in Game 1 before rolling past Millennia Atlantic University 12-1 in five innings in Game 2.

The Raiders combined dominant pitching, explosive extra-base power, and flawless defense to begin the season 2-0.

Game 1: GRCC 11, Oakland CC 0 (5 innings)

Sophomore standout Kalani Stowe set the tone in the circle, striking out nine and walking two in a commanding shutout performance. Stowe allowed little traffic all afternoon while earning her first win of the season.

Offensively, the Raiders tallied eight hits — six of them for extra bases — to break the game open early. Stowe helped her own cause with two hits at the plate. Paige Arthur laced two doubles, while Evelyn McEachen added two triples as part of her two-hit performance.

GRCC's aggressive approach and gap-to-gap power quickly built separation, and the Raiders closed it out in five innings via the run rule.

Game 2: GRCC 12, Millennia Atlantic 1 (5 innings)

Freshman Megan Lillie was equally sharp in her collegiate debut. Lillie retired the first nine batters she faced before issuing a walk in the fourth inning. She finished allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six.

The Raiders' offense wasted no time providing support. The first three batters of the game recorded hits, and after a triple from Libby VanFleet, Millennia Atlantic was forced to make an early pitching change.

GRCC collected 10 hits in the nightcap, four going for extra bases, including two more triples. Six different Raiders recorded at least one hit. Sophomores Natalee Beck, VanFleet, Violet McWhinnie, and Grace Salley each had two hits. McWhinnie drove in a team-high four runs, while VanFleet added three RBI.

The Raiders were also flawless defensively, committing zero errors across both games.
