OCT. 23, 2026, BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Community College women's soccer team saw its season come to a close Friday with a 3-0 loss to No. 16-ranked Kellogg Community College in its final match of the season.

The Raiders finished the year 6-8-2 overall and 6-7 in conference play under first-year head coach Doug Barrow. GRCC needed a victory over the Bruins to keep its postseason hopes alive, but Kellogg secured the win and the conference championship, improving to 12-2-1 overall and 11-1-1 in conference play.

Kellogg struck early, scoring in the seventh minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Bruins maintained that advantage through halftime before adding goals in the 69th and 82nd minutes to seal the victory.

The Bruins controlled much of the offensive action, outshooting GRCC 11-4 and holding a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nyleese Bazan-Hernandez finished with three saves for the Raiders. She played nearly every minute in goal throughout the season, providing consistency and experience for the GRCC defense.

Although the loss ends the women's season, the Raiders will look to build on the experience gained under Barrow in his first year leading the program.

The GRCC men's soccer team will continue the Raiders' postseason pursuit after qualifying for the Region XII tournament. The men are scheduled to compete in the regional semifinal on Oct. 31.
