Golf Wins Glen Oaks Invite, Continues Hot Streak

The GRCC men's golf team claimed its third championship of the season Tuesday at the Glen Oaks Community College Invitational, hosted at Island Hills Golf Club. The Raiders posted a team score of 304, finishing four strokes ahead of runner-up Montcalm Community College in a field of 47 golfers from eight teams.

Sophomore Evan Kaiser led the charge for the Raiders with an even-par 72, tying for first place individually and earning his second collegiate medalist honor. The rest of the lineup also delivered strong performances:

Owen Rosendall fired a season-low 76 to tie for sixth place.

Trevor Hobbs and Parker Williamson each carded season-low rounds of 78, tying for 10th.

Dario Bonazzi shot 81 (T-18th), while Zach Vaandrager added an 86 (T-28th).

This marks the Raiders' seventh consecutive top-five finish, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the region. They'll return to the course April 25 for the Montcalm Community College Invite at Glenkerry Golf Course in Greenville.

Baseball Explodes for 22 Runs in Blowout Win Over Jackson College

The GRCC baseball team's offense erupted in a 22-5 win over Jackson College in a 9-inning non-conference game Tuesday, improving to 22-18 overall and stretching their winning streak to three games.

Jackson struck first with a run in the top of the first, and after GRCC answered with four in the second, the Jets bounced back with four of their own in the third to take a brief 5-4 lead. But the Raiders' offense responded in a big way—scoring 18 unanswered runs, including a 15-run seventh inning.

Freshman outfielder Jack Lockwood highlighted the explosive frame with a grand slam, his second home run of the season, and finished with a team-high five RBIs.

Offensive leaders included:

Peter Heintz, the reigning conference Player of the Week, who tied the game in the third with an RBI single and collected three hits.

Joey Hysell matched Heintz with three hits of his own.

Eight different Raiders recorded at least one hit, as the team tallied 17 total.

On the mound, GRCC used eight different pitchers, who combined for 10 strikeouts and just three walks.

The Raiders return to conference play April 25 with a road matchup at Delta College.
