Oct. 29, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Community College volleyball program celebrated a milestone night on Wednesday, honoring head coach Chip Will for his 500th career victory while the No. 13-ranked Raiders capped off an undefeated conference season with a 3-1 win over Muskegon Community College on Sophomore Day.

GRCC, now 19-2 overall and 12-0 in conference play, dropped the opening set 25-20 before storming back to take the next three sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-13) to claim the program's 15th conference championship - all but one being under Will's leadership. The victory also marked the Raiders' 17th straight win heading into the MCCAA Championship Tournament this weekend in Port Huron.

Will, in his 19th season at the helm, earned his 500th career win earlier this month on October 5 against Southwestern Michigan College during the annual Raider Challenge. With Wednesday's result, Will's career record now stands at 507-120, an 81% winning percentage, including a remarkable 243-19 (93%) mark in conference matches.

Under Will's guidance, GRCC volleyball has become one of the premier programs in the nation. His coaching résumé includes 14 conference championships, 11 MCCAA championships, 13 regional championships, and one national championship, earned in 2012. He has also been recognized with numerous accolades, including 10 Conference Coach of the Year, 10 MCCAA Coach of the Year, 13 District Coach of the Year, and 1 National Coach of the Year honors.

"Chip Will's legacy goes far beyond the wins," said GRCC Director of Athletics Lauren Ferullo. "He's built a culture of excellence where players grow as competitors, leaders, and people. His sustained success is a testament to his dedication, preparation, and passion for both the game and his student-athletes. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with him."
