Tilly's Hat Trick Powers Men's Soccer to 4-1 Win at Terra State

Oct. 15, 2025, FREMONT, OH. – The Grand Rapids Community College men's soccer team snapped a nine-game winless streak in emphatic fashion on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Terra State Community College 4-1 behind a sensational hat trick from freshman winger Leo Tilly.

The victory improved the Raiders to 4-7-2 overall, with two matches remaining in the regular season. GRCC has now defeated Terra State in each of the past three seasons by a combined 16-1 score.

Tilly wasted little time getting GRCC on the board, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes. He first connected in the 8th minute on a close-range finish inside the box assisted by Jaime Bautista, then doubled the lead two minutes later with a strike from just outside the area off a feed from Brady Fox.

Moments later, the Raiders extended the margin to 3-0 when Lucas Bouma netted his second goal of the season from the right side of the box, assisted by Dominic Diaz-Borrello and Jose Oliveira. Terra State responded in the 16th minute to make it 3-1, but GRCC's defense tightened up the rest of the way.

Tilly completed his second hat trick of the season in the 79th minute, finishing a cross from Brandon Gomez to put an exclamation point on the Raiders' dominant performance.

GRCC's offense was relentless, recording season highs in both total shots (47) and shots on goal (25) — shattering their previous marks of 33 and 17, respectively. The Raiders also played with discipline, earning zero cards for the first time this season.

Head coach Damiekco Smith praised the team's energy and focus after the win:

"We've been knocking on the door for weeks," he said. "The guys kept believing, and today everything came together — Leo was fantastic, and the whole team played with confidence and composure."

The Raiders will look to carry that momentum into their next match when they travel to Owens Community College on Thursday, October 17 at 4:00 p.m.
