Oct. 10, 2025, PORT HURON, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College women's soccer team picked up a strong conference road win on Friday, defeating St. Clair County Community College 3-1, while the men's team fell to the unbeaten Skippers 4-0.
The women's victory moves the Raiders to 5-5-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play, with just one conference match remaining.
Freshman Skyelar Albrecht opened the scoring in the 27th minute, giving GRCC an early lead. St. Clair County responded four minutes later to even the score at 1-1 heading into halftime. The Raiders regained the lead in the 71st minute, when an Albrecht cross deflected off a Skipper defender and into the net for an own goal. Freshman Lanee Lewkowski sealed the win in the 85th minute with her fifth goal of the season — tying her with Albrecht for the team lead.
Goalkeeper Nylesse Bazan-Hernandez recorded four saves in the win, helping GRCC control the match down the stretch.
The Raiders will next travel to Owens Community College on October 17 at 2 p.m. for a regional matchup.
On the men's side, the Raiders ran into a tough St. Clair County squad that remained undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 victory. The Skippers scored in the 10th, 54th, 56th, and 61st minutes and outshot GRCC 24-3, also earning six more corner kicks.
GRCC used two goalkeepers in the match. Zander Daley played the first 55 minutes and recorded five saves, while Dylan Hudson finished the final 35 minutes and added three saves.
The Raiders fell to 3-7-2 overall and 1-5 in the conference and will look to bounce back in another regional road match at Terra State Community College on October 15 at 3 p.m.
