March 12, 2024, CALEDONIA, Mich. -- Dylan Nguyen had three hits and four runs batted in to lead the Grand Rapids Community College baseball team to an 18-6 blowout win against Davenport University's junior varsity squad on Tuesday.
GRCC had a season best 16 hits in the nine-inning affair, from 10 different players.
The Raiders took the lead for good after a four-run third inning in which Aaron Bess, Nguyen and Tommy Reid all drove guys home.
Five of the Raiders 16 hits went for extra bases including a triple by Reid that scored the first run of the game for GRCC.
Reid, Bess, Chad Fisher, Jacob Pitt and Hysell all had two hits. Fisher and Hysell each drove in three runs.
Ohlen Bond (2-0) picked up the victory for the Raiders, pitching three innings and striking out four batters.
GRCC will be back on the field on Saturday, March 16 at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and then on Sunday plays its first home games of the year, also against KVCC.
