Feb. 16, 2024, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College is proud to announce the recent hiring of Joe Fox, the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academic Services.

"I am thrilled to have Joe step into this role after serving as the Student Athlete Navigator over the past year," said third year Director of Athletics, Lauren Ferullo.  "Joe has been an integral part of our student success in the classroom.  He also brings a wealth of knowledge in NJCAA compliance which will help ensure student-athlete eligibility."

Fox currently is in his third season as the head coach of the men's basketball team.  He previously had two stints as assistant coach at GRCC, from 2012-2014 under T.J. Carnegie's leadership, helping the team to an NJCAA National Championship berth, and from 2019-2021 under the leadership of Jeff Bauer. 

Some of Fox's new responsibilities in his new role include:
- Provide oversight and supervision of all compliance and academic related issues for the athletic department.
- Work directly with coaches and student-athletes to maintain athletic eligibility throughout the academic year, coordinating progress reports, study tables, and the student-athlete mentorship program.
- Organization of internal and external events, coordination of letter of intent signings, and monitoring team tryouts and showcases.
- Educate student-athletes on NJCAA, MCCAA, and GRCC rules and regulations.

"I am honored and excited to be named the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services at Grand Rapids Community College," said Fox.  "I want to thank Lauren Ferullo and the leadership team at GRCC for providing me with this opportunity. Coaching at GRCC was my first job after college, and as such, this school and community has always been special to me. I am looking forward to being able to continue assisting our student-athletes in their academic journeys at GRCC." 

Fox's Raider basketball team is back in action Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. after the women's basketball game.
