Nov. 13, 2024, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Community College men's basketball team battled back to secure an 80-73 victory over Jackson College, boosting their season record to 3-1.
The game started with Jackson College leading by as many as 10 points in the first half and holding a 39-32 advantage at halftime. However, GRCC rallied in the second half, with a crucial 3-pointer by Zeekeal Jackson giving the Raiders their first lead after the break—a lead they maintained for the remainder of the game.
The Raiders' bench played a significant role, outscoring Jackson's bench 31-15, with Benjamin Koubek contributing 13 points and a team-high five assists. Key stat leaders for GRCC included:
- Tyran Thomas: 17 points (7-14 FG, 2-4 3PT)
- Zeekeal Jackson: 14 points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3PT, 7-7 FT), 5 rebounds
- Jack Agema: 8 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 steals
- Javon Golson: 6 points, team-high 11 rebounds
- Benjamin Koubek: 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-3 FT), 6 rebounds, 5 assists
GRCC looks to make it three in row when it takes on Oakland Community College on Nov. 16 at 1:00 pm.
