Nov. 29, 2023, DETROIT, Mich. – Aaliyah Ratliff's game-high 16 points for the Grand Rapids Community College women's basketball team lifted the Raiders to a 48-40 win against Kuyper College on a very special day at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.
The biggest difference in the exhibition game was the second quarter where the Raiders erupted for 23 points and held Kuyper to just six.
Ratliff (Wyoming, MI) was one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Ava Schultz needed just two points for a double-double, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds. Sophia Modderman (Grand Rapids, MI) also had 10 rebounds while Tia Richard (Donaldsonville, LA) scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Both teams had over 20 offensive rebounds and finished in single digits in the turnover department.
After the game the team enjoyed a nice lunch and then returned back to Little Caesars Arena to watch the Detroit Pistons take on the Los Angeles Lakers. Definitely an unforgettable experience for all the friends, family, players and GRCC staff that were in attendance. Big thanks to GRCC's head coach David Glazier and Kuyper's head coach Mike Janikowski for making the day possible.
GRCC resumes play on Dec. 2 against Schoolcraft College at 1 p.m.
