Battle Creek, Mich. – David Glazier's Raiders have never lost to Kellogg Community College in his two plus years at GRCC and Monday night was no different. Despite many lead changes, the Raiders pulled away late in the third quarter, cruising to a 73-62 win over the Bruins. The win keeps the Raiders in 5th place in the conference as they improve to 18-10 (9-8) and Kellogg, who is eliminated from post-season play, falls to 7-20 (4-13).
Mya Jordan (Kentwood, MI) led the Raiders (who led by as many 16 in the fourth) with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. Hallee Breimayer (Belding, MI) had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Aaliyah Sargent (Cedar Springs, MI) made two from behind the arc and totaled 13 points and 4 steals. Emily Pendred (East Lansing, MI) had a game high 13 rebounds.
The Raiders will have one more game left before conference play concludes and post season begins. They will host Kalamazoo Valley CC Wednesday night, a team they beat 58-49 in their first meeting with Jordan and Breimayer each scoring 18 points. The Cougars will come into the game with a record of 11-15 and 5-12 in the conference. It will also be sophomore night where we will honor the careers of Jordan, Breimayer, Sargent and Pendred. Tip-off is 5:30 PM at the Hunsberger Arena.
Post Season picture: The Raiders will be on the road in the first round (quarterfinals) of districts. That game will take place Tuesday March 5th at Jackson College and will be at 7:00 PM. Should they win that game they will advance to the Semis on Thursday March 7th at GRCC and play at 7:30 PM. For all the tournament information click here.
