Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's softball team improved to 2-2 in conference play and 3-9 overall after a pair of wins over Ancilla College 12-6 and 5-4.
Paige Mortensen (2-4) earned her second win of the season pitching 6 innings allowing 9 hits and 3 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.
Casey Evans finished the first game 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Autumn O'Keefe,
Andrea Chipman and
Makayla Beld each went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. GRCC finished with 17 hits as Ancilla's Samantha Nickerson took the loss with 11 earned runs and 3 walks.
In game two the Chargers kept the game much closer, but couldn't hold off the Raiders who went ahead 5-3 in the fourth and held on for the win. Casey Evans earned the win for the Raiders pitching 7 innings while allowing 7 hits, 3 earned runs and one walk while striking out 6. Ancilla's Kami Gillreath took the loss allowing 10 hits and 5 earned runs while striking out 8.
Aaron Kietzman hit 2-of-3 with one walk and one run.
Stephanie Kruskie went 2-of-4 with 1 RBI and one run. Autumn O'Keefe and
Makenzie Larsen each recorded doubles with O'Keefe hitting 1-of-3
with 1 run and Larsen 1-of-3 with 1 RBI.
The Raiders host GVSU's Club team on Thursday the 29
th at 7PM.
