Box Score Danville, IL. – GRCC fell to Danville Area Community College by a final score of 78-70. GRCC came out in the first half and silenced the home teams crowed with stifling defense and a hot touch from the three-point line. The Raiders would enter halftime with a 15-point lead, that felt like it should have been more. The score as both teams headed to the locker room was 44 – 29. GRCC played spectacular defense to limit the Jaguars 35% shooting from the floor and 1 of 7 from behind the arc. On the other hand, GRCC knocked down 5 of 13 from deep and shot 48% from the floor. In addition to their hot shooting, the Raiders out rebounded the Jaguars 23 to 15, leading to 10 second chance points.
The mojo that the Raiders had in the first half, slowly started to swing to the home team in the second. Danville started cutting into the Raiders lead after Jake Chilton drained three second half triples. The Raiders led for the entire game until DACC tied the game with 5 minutes remaining in the game and would hold off the Raiders efforts as they pushed to regain the lead.
GRCC was led in scoring by
Anthony McIntosh with 18,
Zachary Pangborn 18 and
Curtis Davison with 14. Diego Robinson pulled down nine rebounds, four of them offensive to pace the Raiders on the glass.
GRCC's season is not over, as the Raiders will play in the consolation bracket for a chance at a 7
th place finish.
The Raiders next game will be tomorrow, March 21st at 3:00pm CT, 4:00pm ET against Ulster County, who lost to #1 seed Triton 107-59 earlier today.
If GRCC should win, they would play again on Friday, March 23
rd at 9am CT. A loss would end the Men's Basketball season.
