Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's men's basketball team improved to 12-5 in MCCAA play after a close contest with Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The Raiders earned a 90-73 overtime win over KVCC's Cougars led by
Curtis Davison who started the overtime period draining back-to-back three-pointers, including his 100
th of the season.
Davison finished the contest with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks shooting 11 of 25 from the field and 3 of 10 from behind the arc.
Darron Ewing Jr. finished with a 13 point, 15 rebound double-double.
Gregory Robinson fell just short of his own double-double with 9 rebounds and 10 points.
Zachary Pangborn added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Anthony McIntosh led the Raiders in assists with 8 and steals with 5.
As a team the Raiders shot 45% from the field and 42% from behind the arc.
Tre Humes led the Cougars with 32 points and 6 assists. Tanner Eubank added 26 points and 5 rebounds. Both recorded three steals, half of the cougars 12 total.
With the win GRCC is locked in a second place finish and a NJCAA District 9 home game next Tuesday.
Before District 9 play commences, the Raiders visit Mid-Michigan Community College on Wednesday the 28
th for a 7:30PM matchup. Mid-Michigan's men are 9-8 in MCCAA play and have already clinched a berth in to the District 9 tournament.
GRCC's 6-9 women's team will also face Mid-Michigan's Lakers getting the night started with a 5:30PM tipoff. Mid-Michigan's women are 13-2 in MCCAA play and tied for first in the West with 13-2 Muskegon Community College.
