GRCC women's basketball took on the Mott CC Bears and in OT found a way to win.
The starting 5 for GRCC seemed to come off a bit flat and that was noticed by Head Coach David Glazier right away. The first substitution would be a 5 player swing and from then on the Raiders were locked in and focused for the battle ahead. The game was back and forth for all of regulation play. Both teams were fighting for every point but thanks to Madelynn Miller the Raiders would have the lead into the final seconds of regulation. The game would be down to the wire and Mott would shoot a three with 3.9 seconds left to send the game into OT.Â
OT brought the best out for the Raiders with them shooting 80% from the field and taking the lead with 4.9 seconds left. A timeout and a wide left shot at the buzzer from Mott CC left the Raiders with the victory.
For the now the Raiders seem to be seasoned veterans in clutch moments and have learned how to find a way to win. This stepping stone is just another check on the list that will be good for the Raiders to have in their arsenal for future tight games. In terms of character it was clear that passion was felt by all of the players and staff, driving them to pull out yet another close one.
Hallee Breimayer led the Raiders with 21 points, followed by Mya Jordan with a double double, 13 points and 11 rebounds. Aaliyah Sargent and Madelynn Miller both had 9 point each. Crashing the boards was Emily Pendred with 17 total rebounds. The Raiders shot .379 from the field
The Raiders next game will be on December 18th at 6:00 PM at Aquinas College's Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center against the Aquinas College's JV team. The last match up left GRCC with the victory.
Keep up with all the Raiders action!
