Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Men's and Women's basketball were away at the KVCC Invite this weekend with both teams facing off against SchoolCraft College on Friday and then Delta College on Saturday. The women's team came out on top, winning both of their games 57-54 against Schoolcraft and 63-62 against Delta.

Women's Basketball
3^rd year Head Coach Dave Glazier was happy with his team and the way the team made adjustments: "Schoolcraft and Delta both do a really good job with their kids and we expected them to be tough. You never know how some of the new freshmen on a team are going to perform but both teams had great athletes that made for good competition."

Against Schoolcraft the Raiders wanted to dictate the offensive tempo and keep things open on the perimeter. That game plan proved to be the right one and hitting big shots when they were needed led the Raiders to their first win of the tournament.

Standout from game one Emily Pendred. who had started the season with a double double. Her 18 points and 16 rebounds set the pace for the team and created a defensive nightmare, allowing space to open up for other players. Madelynn Miller finished game one with 14 points and Hallee Breimayer finished with 11.

Emily's momentum from game one carried over to game two against Delta. Pendred once again freed up her team to take home the second win. Mya Jordan played more aggressive in game 2 and led the team in points with 26. The second Raider to hit double digit points was Hallee Breimayer. Breimayer was 8 for 10 from the free throw line and hit the big shots when they were needed.

Heading back to GR the women's team now has 5 wins under their belt and has established some great building blocks for the season ahead.

Men's basketball
Men's basketball suffered two losses this weekend at the KVCC Showcase, the first to #12 Schoolcraft 92-65 and a buzzer beater ending against Delta, 80-79.

In game one the Raiders seemed to not be on the same page and couldn't get the ball rolling. Down 26 to 57 at the half nothing seemed to be going right and the Raiders suffered their first loss.

Three Raiders would leave game 1 with double digits despite the loss. David Hearns had 25 points, Diego Robinson had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and William Otole finished with 10.

In game two against Delta the Raiders looked to rebound and a different team walked on the court. David Hearns had 15 points in the first half, leaving GRCC ahead 49 to 40.

Delta, not down for the count started making shots to make up the 9 point spread at half. With just over a minute left, Delta made a big push to overtake the Raiders for the first time in the game 78 to 77. Fighting back, the Raiders would make the final seconds of the game a thriller, first regaining the lead, then suffering a final buzzer shot to end the game 80 to 79 in favor of the Pioneers.

Sammie Ryans had 22 points and 7 rebounds, David Hearns finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Diego Robinson had 8 points with 13 rebounds.

Looking ahead, both men's and women's teams are away at Mott CC next Wednesday.
