Grand Rapids, MICH – The #4 Raiders picked up their 9
th conference win over Lansing's Stars last night winning three sets to one (25-10, 25-12, 18-25, 25-9) improving to 12-1 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the conference. The win extended the Raiders conference win streak to 35 matches and 23-1 over the past 10 years against LCC.
Hannah Stearns had quite a performance leading her team in kills with 13 and hitting percentage with .545.
Kendra DeJonge finished with 12 kills.
Autumn Severn and
Peyton Helsen combined for 22 digs and 4 aces with each adding an equal share to the total.
Kayla Salyer led the team in blocks with 7 while
Ally German and Hannah each added 5.
Lauren Helsen led the team in assists with 23. The Raiders finished the match with 42 kills and hit .327 as a team including over .400 in the first and final sets.
Lansing's
Erin Cooper led the Stars with 8 kills with
Silvia Strieff finishing with 6.
Hannah Whiteman led the Stars in digs with 19.
GRCC hosts rival Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Thursday, September 28
th at 6:30 PM. KVCC's Cougars are six games behind GRCC in the MCCAA West with a 3-6 record while 5-10 overall. The Cougars are led by Sophomore, Carlie Vandenberg, who has recorded 88 kills thus far in 2017.
