Box Score 2 Kentwood, Mich – The Raider baseball team split their double header with Davenport University's JV team as the Raiders bested the Panthers 9-1 and then took a 1-12 loss to stay .500 with a 15-15 overall record--10-2 in MCCAA play .
Alec Overbeek went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, 2 RBI and one run scored.
Dalton Phillips went 3-for four with a double and 1 runs scored.
Brian Cappiello went 1-for-2 plus a walk with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Jacob Augustyn walked to first 3 times with no hits and 1 at-bat scoring 2 runs.
Matt Milstead and
Seth Stephens each hit a double while 1-for-2 and 1-for-3, respectively.
DU's Aaron Fadden, a former Raider, recorded the Panther's lone RBI with a double in the 6
th. Fadden finished hitting 1-of-2 with that double and a walk.
Sam Traver took the win pitching 7 innings allowing 5 hits and one earned run while striking out 7 and walking one batter improving his record as a starter to 5-1
DU started the second game with walk and a two-run homer and didn't look back putting 12 runs on the board before a Seth Stephens' double scored Winkles from second in the 5
th to end the game.
Stephens double was the only hit the Raiders recorded in game two.
Jackson Shaver, now 2-3, took the loss for the Raiders pitching 4 innings allowing 11 hits, 6 earned runs, 3 walks and four strikeouts. Stephens finished the final inning facing 6 batters with 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk and no strikeouts.
The Raiders will have the weekend off before visiting Lansing Community College on Tuesday April 18
th for a 2PM double header. Lansing and Jackson each hold 11-1 records in MCCAA play and rest at 1
st and 2
nd place in the East with Lansing's lone loss coming from Kellogg 7-8, and Jackson's by way of Mott, 1-6.
