Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's #3 nationally ranked Raider volleyball team remain first in the MCCAA West after a 3-1 win over MCCAA West #2 Muskegon Community College.
The Raiders found themselves down 0-1 after MCC came out strong winning the first set 25-22. GRCC responded winning the second 25-22 and followed it up with a swift 25-11 third set. The fourth was another battle, but the Raiders came out on top 27-25.
Three Raiders recorded double-doubles as
Kendra DeJonge had 22 kills and 17 digs,
Lauren Helsen had 28 assist and 17 digs, and
Autumn Severn had 27 assists and 11 digs.
Ally German led the team in hitting percentage at .427 finishing with 11 kills.
Hailey DeKorte finished with a team high 21 digs.
With the win, GRCC is 12-0 in conference play while 19-1 overall. Muskegon's loss leaves them at 11-2 overall and 17-14 overall. Both have qualified for
NJCAA District F play.
GRCC hosts the MCCAA West's #3 Kellogg Community College on Thursday, October 12
th at 6:30. Kellogg's Bruins are 9-4 in MCCAA play while 18-6 overall.
