Box Score 2 Grand Rapids, Mich – GRCC's baseball team improves to 7-3 in conference play and 11-16 overall after picking up a pair of wins against Kalamazoo Valley Community College yesterday 5-2 and 11-5.
Heading into yesterday's double header the Raiders were led offensively by
Brenden Johnson. In addition to leading his team in batting average Johnson leads the Raiders in on base percentage (.474), slugging percentage(.657), hits (29), doubles (11), total bases (46) and home runs (3).
Johnson isn't doing all the work at the plate for the Raiders though.
Jalen Cox leads GRCC with RBI at 17 while scoring 8 runs and recording 2 tripples, 1 home run and 11 walks.
Will Harris trails Johnson in batting average at .379 with 11 runs scored, 22 hits, 11 RBI, 6 doubles and one home run with a .464 OBP.
Sam Traver, 2-2, leads the Raiders in ERA with 3.67 after 27 innings allowing 29 hits, 11 earned runs, 12 walks and 30 strikeouts.
Justin Palmbos, 2-3, leads the Raiders in strikeouts with 38 while allowing 42 hits, 19 earned runs and seven walks in 28.2 innings.
Ean Walda has recorded two saves in addition to his 2-2 record as a starter after 21 innings pitched allowing 23 hits, 15 earned runs, 13 walks and 19 strikeouts.
The Raiders face two of the top teams in the MCCAA in Kellogg Community College and Jackson College in the coming week. Jackson sits atop the MCCAA at 10-2.
Kellogg's Bruins visit the Raiders tomorrow and travel with a second place standing in the MCCAA, one spot above GRCC, at 8-2 with both losses coming at the hands of Jackson.
